Theresia Engel emigrated in 1927. The Reuters raised four children in America. Their daughters Helen, born on March 10, 1933, and Betty-Lou, born on March 16, 1943, were employed in the administration. Betty-Lou was in Schönholthausen for the last time in 2015. Son Reinhold, born on 6.1.1932, is a chemical engineer and son Walter, born on 4.4.1935, is an insurance salesman. Joseph Reuter died on May 31, 1959.
